‘Ohana Finding (nationally referred to as “Family Finding”) is a process designed to identify, locate and engage family members of children and youth who are in foster care.

Every year a family is honored for successfully reunifying with their children. This year June 2023 we celebrated the Keleleiki-Francisco family.

A positive working relationship between parents and resource caregivers is pivotal to the well-being of the keiki. This event in Hilo celebrated the importance of shared parenting, bringing families together in aloha for one another and our keiki.

This video brings voices of parents with lived experience to encourage birth parents currently in the child welfare system, especially those struggling with substance use disorders.

This video is a panel discussion with four birth parents about their experience of receiving their Family Service Plan. They describe what helped or hindered them around its implementation, and share ideas of how that the process can be improved.

The 15th annual ‘Ohana is Forever conference was held virtually on July 16, 2021, with over 200 young people, adult professionals and community partners in attendance online.

Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 "CAA" contains the provisions for the Support Foster Youth and Families through the Pandemic Act and provides significant assistance to young people with experience in foster care during the pandemic.

On May 26, 2021 HI H.O.P.E.S hosted a pandemic support virtual town hall.

On April 29, the HI H.O.P.E.S. Initiative hosted a one of a kind virtual event, Voices of Hope. The event was a powerful and inspiring combination of FYA Talks and musical talent.

Description: Over 70% of children in foster care have siblings in care. Many of them are separated in foster care. This training focuses on the need for siblings to stay connected while in care, provides recommendations and utilizes the voice of youth and professionals with experience.

Begun in 1996, EPIC’s ‘Ohana Conferencing Program is now an essential statewide service that's provided to families who are navigating Hawaii's Child Welfare Services.
